Codes & Standards

Our goal is to be pro-active in maintaining and developing codes and standards to help assure the safety, quality and performance of communications cable and connectivity products.

CCCA works through, and contributes to, technical committees in standards bodies such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Telecommunications Industries Association (TIA).  Please consult these and other organizations for codes and standards relevant to communications cable and connectivity products. CCCA does not issue, ratify or publish codes and standards for these products, nor does CCCA certify compliance of products to industry accepted codes and standards.

Protecting life safety in the event of a building fire is a "MUST" requirement for the thousands of cables installed in hidden building spaces. CCCA provides information and tools to help identify cables that violate code and may cause the rapid spread of fire and smoke.
